The idea was to write a record that would connect with every listener of A State Of Trance (ASOT). I want to make something that I could take experience from it. When I was in a dance floor when I used to go to Trance Energy in Holland, I wasn’t performing, I went there as a raver, and just take all the experiences and the sounds I was hearing. I put that into the record , which would hopefully win ASOT contest.
No one had done that sound before. It was very different anthem with different style and different sound. No one had really done that. So yeah, I did it and I won it. I didn’t know it until everyone else found out at the same time. It was a great moment.
Do you expect the response would be positive to the anthem?
I was up against very good competition. I submitted my entry in the same way like everyone else was submit their entry. I didn’t have any insight knowledge. I was completely kept in the dark. I had to tune in and listened, and I was really surprise. I couldn’t make it any better and there is nothing I want to change about it. Sometimes you make a record, you release it, and when you go “No! Why I done that?” or “Maybe I could done that better!”
With this one, you know what? It took me 2 months to write it, from beginning to end. Not completely every single day, but write in a bit and get the idea every step in a way. I’ve been listening to ASOT since episode 200. When I still get it by downloaded it and serve as my source of Trance. So to be part of it, feels incredible.
We were lucky to have this short interview with Ben Gold. According to his Twitter that day, he got delayed for 8 hours in Dubai. When he landed, he went straight to Colosseum Club to perform. However, there is no sign of fatigue on his face. Not to mention he delivered a fantastic performance that night.
Best wishes for Ben Gold!
