It was really good energy crowd and it’s interesting because I was a bit curious with how they will respond. I don’t play extremely commercial EDM. It’s real proper House music. I was connected very well with the crowd.
Is this your first time in Bali?
No, I’ve played in Bali many times. I played in lot of different places here.
The thing is everything changes in terms of technology innovation. Right now, you have a lot DJ that had a lot of elements and tools that has been pre-packaged for them. They don’t have to do a lot of thinking, and unfortunately I’m seeing, the fact that lot of them don’t really put enough time and effort into being original. The ones that do, the ones that stands out. It’s interesting because now you have ability to pretty much do anything and easily available. However, lot of people choose the easier out. The one that choose to be different, they’re the one who stands out.
You have amazing remixes. What factor that makes you decide to do the remix?
If I do a remix for someone, it really depends on what song is.What the piece of music is that I want to remix. I don’t take a lot of remixes. It depends on if I can bring something to it that doesn’t already have.
Do you have any advice to young aspiring DJ out there?
The most important thing is to really love the music that you’re playing. Take your time to research it, do your homework. Practice. Really pay attention to the audience because they’re the one that gonna take you to the journey.
Thank you Roger Sanchez for the conversation!
