On 13 May 2017, people once again came to JIEXPO Kemayoran Jakarta. SHVR Ground Festival 2017 back to entertained fans of dance music with performers from international DJ and local heroes. This year, the theme of the festival was Tokyo Night Out and the venue was decorated with Tokyo theme.
When we entered the venue, we were welcome by Tokyo atmosphere. In the middle of area there was big installation of Japaneses soldier. There were 2 areas we can choose, Frozen Empire Stage and Urban Shinjuku Stage. We were heading to Urban Shinjuku Stage.
The DJ that were performing by the time we arrived were Skytek and Adieh Flowz. The crowd slowly fill the front area. Next performer were Cello and Huget that officially started the Trance theme for the area. Consecutively, Trilions, Attila Syah, LTN, and Roni Joni performed for the crowd that mostly Trance fans.
We decided to take a walk to Frozen Empire Stage. At that time, Julian Jordan was on stage and the crowd went crazy with his performance. We walked around a bit and we saw few activation booth where people can play and earned some points. The organizer also provided a wish list board where we can write who we want to see on next festival.
We were back at Urban Shinjuku Stage to saw Cosmic Gate. The Germany duo entertained the crowd with songs from their new album Materia and their hit songs. People sang together when they played "Falling Back In Love". After Cosmic Gate, we were back to Frozen Empire Stage and Deorro was at the end of his set. The last song Deorro played was "Five More Hours", his collaboration with Chris Brown.
Above & Beyond became the performance that people waited for. Jono Grant and Tony McGuinness played their hit songs. As always, Above & Beyond also brought beautiful visual for each songs they played. Both Jono and Tom typed simple and beautiful messages to the screen. The performance won’t complete without Push The Button. On the song "Blue Sky Action", Tony brought 4 people from the audience on stage to push the button.
Performance from Afrojack closed the Frozen Empire Stage performance. Afrojack closed it with a bang and also some fireworks. In Urban Shinjuku Stage, Orjan Nilsen played favorite Trance tracks and he was on fire.
For its second edition, SHVR Ground Festival 2017 has some changes significantly. Organizer moved the venue to JIEXPO Kemayoran has made people easier to come to the venue. The theme was handled very serious and the line-up quite appealing for the fans to come and watch the festival.
However, we were a bit concern with time slot for local heroes. Each local heroes was given time to perform about 20-25 minutes. With only two stages with many performers, it was understandable for the limited time. It was unfortunate because big festival like this can be used to show what they got to audience.
Despite that, this festival offered unique experiences and hope we can have another chance to come again!
