Tech On Sunday is a serial event presented by No Vertical Boundaries (NVB). We came to the first edition and immediately become fan of the event. We think that the idea of having an underground event at Sunday is brilliant. We always try to come to every edition of Tech On Sunday at Lucy In The Sky.
We talked with Prima Tennesandy from NVB about the conception of the event. “The idea actually came from the venue itself,” said Prima. The layout from Lucy In The Sky is nice. They were offered to fill the slot on Wednesday, but NVB chose Sunday. “We think that Sunday event, during sunset will be nice. Since it’s Sunday, we treat it as casual hangout,” said Prima. The concept is a back-to-back performance from various communities.

The line-up arrangement came from Prima who make a draft. “I give the draft to Baba and Ibam (from Tantra) to arrange the flow of the day,” said Prima. The first and second performance will be newcomer, then 3 performers that serves as guest star, and Tantra as the host.

“Our objective for Tech On Sunday is we want to know how big is the underground crowd,” said Prima. The crowd that came to the event can be someone who really like the genre or they want to see their DJ friends play.

We asked about the target from Tech On Sunday. “The realistic target for me is being consistence. We consistently having the event every month, for one year,  with varieties of DJ playing,” said Prima. With the capacity of 300 people, Prima wants to make more people come to the event. “It’s easy for us to attract crowd with big international names to play in Sunday,” said Prima.

Prima has a dream to have Tech On Sunday in a bigger venue that can hold up to 3000 attendees. Also invite international DJ to play. “However, we need to prove as a consistent brand and recognized by other communities. The we will have confident to plan bigger,” said Prima.

What is the hope for the event?

“Well, probably survive!” said Prima, laughing. Undeniably, underground communities are developing. It’s too easy for rely on big commercial names to build a brand. “If you build the brand from scratch and see how it grows, that’s the challenge,” said Prima.

The hard work from NVB team is paid off. This year, Tech On Sunday being nominated as Serial Event Of The Year at Paranoia Awards 2017. If you think they deserves the award, go vote for them!

We wish Tech On Sunday team good success ahead!
